Friendster’s New Look – Makes Me Wanna Login Again?

I just learned the news that Friendster recently had a facelift. It is actually refreshing to see a hippier, more attractive Friendster Layout and Design. When Facebook was out, I wasn’t totally hooked to it instantly and still checked my Friendster profile once in a while. But when Restaurant City arrived, I forgot all about my Friendster account.

WASP 17 – A New Planet Discovered?

I’m not talking about a wasp in the outer space. Sources around the net have been discussing about the newly discovered planet named Wasp 17. This new planet in the Solar System is determined to orbit the wrong way – backward compared to the host star.

It was said that Wasp 17 is 1000 lightyears from earth and its size is double that of Jupiter’s. Whoah, that’s a huge planet right there! If the planet Wasp 17 would be officially included in the Solar System diagram, it would be the largest known planet in our system.

Hi my name is Mike and I’m a Shopaholic!

Wait, wait, wait! Mike, you’re a shopaholic?! Well, I think the most appropriate intro line would be “Hi my name is Mike and MY WIFE is a SHOPAHOLIC!” Well, that’s sound more realistic now, eh?

We have been going steady on a bf-gf relationship for almost 4 years before we got married. She’s so loving and thoughtful. I can take her to a fine dine party or to a turo-turo karinderya and have some halo-halo too. When we go to the mall, I’d buy her some stuff that she wasn’t asking for. Or maybe she’d point out like a cute bracelet and a matching pair of earrings and says “I like those, but don’t buy them, I just like them.” Of course, I wanna win her heart big time so I’d buy to her hearts content. Then she gives me a sweet peck on the cheek, and in my mind my smile stretches to the whole circumference of my head.

We got closer to each other and decided we should get married. And so we did. That’s when the shopaholic button was turned on…

I love her, and I know she loves me too. But another thing she loves is shopping. She’s not really the type that goes for the branded ones, she’s the one who goes to the “SALE” pile and dig up the most stylish item, or scan through the lower-priced items when in search for a good buy. She’d also buy some doll shoes or slippers that are really fashionable, and she purchases them 2-3 times in a row. I’m even her consultant when picking the right clothes for her. She really loves to shop, but I don’t complain. Why? I’ll tell you the story.

One time I told her to go to an all-out shopping spree; I’d give her my money and she can spend it on whatever she wants! I gave her everything in my wallet and told her to spend it all because the next paycheck is coming the next day. So she did.

When she came home, she showed me all the stuff she bought. First was a cute pair of earrings, not the fancy type – an elegant looking gem-studded pair of silver earrings. She also bought a simple but stunning necklace in silver also. Then she bought a white stylish watch from a famous brand name. The others are: a pair of denim jeans, some white trousers, a really cool baby tee, a box of undies, short shorts, and a new make-up kit. I forgot to mention she also bought a pair of sneaky flip-flops because summer is just around the corner. That’s not all! She also bought me a nice vintage tee, and cute sandals and PJs for our baby.

The total price: 1,200 pesos!

Just imagine having 1,200 pesos go that far? That’s why I love her so much! She’s a stylish lady with a great mind for budgeting! I’m no match to her when it comes to money spending. I don’t worry if my wife is a shopaholic; she plans ahead where the money will be put to use. For me 1,200 pesos would just go to one pair of branded pants, but she explains that branded clothes aren’t always the best. You can grab an ukay-ukay shirt and still look good on it! So from that day on I let my wife do all the shopping! :)

And that’s my shopaholic experience! (I love you Mommy!)

Six Music, Six Videos, Six Pictures… FOR FREE

So what’s with the title? The number six is a lucky number for me today, and I think I’ll blog about it. Well, my adsense earnings are near to six dollars already, and six cool videos (or even millions, actually) are available at utube.com (sorry, that’s youtube). And if you notice, the title “six music, six videos, six pictures…” contain six words, and also six letter i’s. Not seven, not five, but exactly six.

Free Smart and Globe Internet on Mobile Phone

I recently found this thread on a mobile phone forum about having free internet access on any smart or globe phone and I decided to share it to you guys because it actually works (I tried it with Globe)! Kahit 5 pesos lang ang load ko, the internet can still be accessed. I assume this is applicable to most GPRS-capable phones, because I have a Samsung J700 (not so common basic phone) and I suppose it can work with other brands.

Chicken Caldereta Recipe

Ianne cooked today a very satisfying and delicious chicken dish: Chicken Caldereta. Caldereta is originally a Pinoy beef stew recipe, but to cut costs, Pinoys also use chicken or pork for caldereta. And to share with you this wonderful dish, here’s the recipe that my wife followed: (from www.whats4eats.com)

• Beef round or chuck, cubed (in our case, its chicken)– 2 pounds
• White vinegar — 1/4 cup
• Soy sauce — 1/4 cup
• Oil — 2-3 tablespoons
• Onion, chopped — 1
• Bell pepper, chopped — 1
• Garlic, minced — 1/4 cup
• Tomato sauce — 2 cups
• Stock or water — 2 cups
• Potatoes, peeled and cubed — 2 cups
• Peas — 1 cup
• Salt and pepper — to taste
• Liver pâté (optional) — 1/4 cup

Method

1. Mix the beef, vinegar, soy sauce and garlic together in a large bowl. Marinate, refrigerated, for anywhere from 1-8 hours. Remove the meat from the marinade and pat dry, reserving the marinade.
2. Heat the oil over medium-high flame in a large pot. Brown the beef in batches, removing it to a plate or bowl.
3. When the beef is all browned, add more oil to the pot if needed and sauté the onions, peppers and garlic over medium flame until the onions are translucent. Add the tomato sauce and simmer for 3-5 minutes to cook down somewhat.
4. Return the beef to the pot, along with the reserved marinade and the stock or water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low and simmer, covered, for about 30-40 minutes.
5. Sir in the potatoes, peas, salt and pepper and simmer for another 20-30 minutes, or until the beef is tender and the potatoes are cooked through. Add a little more water if necessary.
6. Remove the pot from the heat and stir in the liver pâté if using. Adjust seasonings to taste and serve hot over rice.

Variations

• Goat meat is often used instead of beef when making caldereta. It can also be made with chicken.
• Brown 1/2 pound of sliced chorizo sausage along with the beef and add to the stew.
• Add 1/3 cup pitted green olives when you add the potatoes and peas.
• Try adding different vegetables: cabbage, carrots, cassava root.

Notes

• Adding the liver pâté is not really necessary, but it adds richness to the final dish that is very nice. Small cans of pâté can be found in most Asian markets. An acceptable substitute would be liverwurst.

My Current SmartBro Speed

Just wanted to share this.. This was taken at 4:02 AM. Of course, lesser subscribers are accessing their net connections at this time so I took advantage of these times so I can work faster and be more productive.

I hope SmartBro would have an upgrade option in the future even if it doubles the cost. I heard that myDSL is faster, but haven’t had confirmation about it here in our location. For the meantime, I’d stick to SmartBro. :)

Kagagaling ko lang sa Palistuhan.com.ph at talaga namang kahanga-hanga ang pagkakagawa ng Flash site nila. Bukod dun, meron silang online game na kung tawagin ay “Listo ka ba?” kung saan kailangan mong makasagot ng tama sa 100 questions nila na may time limit ang bawat tanong. Kapag natapos mo ang 100 questions, mapupunta ka sa second round, at kung sa second round ay maging top 3 ka, panalo ka na ng laptop!!! Kung hindi ka naman makakaabot sa top 3, may chance ka naman manalo ng PSP. Astig diba?

Nilaro ko ang game nila at talaga namang kailangang maging listo ka at matalino dahil hindi madali ang mga tanong at maikli lang ang oras! At ang score ko so far: 7/100 questions ang tama. Hehehe…

Maliban sa Listo ka ba game, under construction din ang iba pang features ng site nila, tulad ng Rap-O-Matic at Supahfy Yo’ Name.

Sa mga naglaro na, i-post nyo ang scores nyo dito and let’s compare! :D At kung ikaw ang nanalo ng laptop, ipaalam mo rin sa amin!
